Yeah, I can spend $3000 on a
computer. I can't. $3000 is too
much for a home computer.

The most I'll spend on a computer is
$900. All the IBM's for $900 or
under bite, but an Atari ST or an
Amiga can be bought for under $900
and are well worth the $900 invested.

When we were talking, I said I liked
C, MS-DOS, and Unix--not IBM.

If you're serious ( and can get a
small loan from your parents) I'll
let you have my "system". Just check
out message base #2. I'm sure we can
work out a deal (even one to connect
your hard drive to the st!) I have a
spare Icd host adapter that will come
outta this hard drive If you want!
I'm really that desperate! I wanna
sell now!

Call me at the board number!

U.K. fer example for $400..our
money..when they can sell it here for

If yer clone will not run IBM
(compatible software) Ya got robbed.
Only one example: Paint Brush is one
program. Ya would need at least 7 or
more ST programs to match it... Come
on now...Tell me any IBM compatible
program which doesn't run on his
clone..Than tell me what he
bought...There's more to it than you
are sayin......

Wrong....You can get an good IBM
clone for $800 bucks that has Vga
graphics, two drives(high density 3.5
and one 5.25) a 40 meg hard drive,
B&W high resolution monitor, a case
large enough to hold 3 more drives,
should you expand, a power supply
over 200 watts to handle the add ons,
and room enough for 5 expansion
slots......Atari offer ditto!!!!!

They actually charge MORE there than
they do over there.

Get your world currency tables out
and start converting to dollars and
you'll find out.

They charge $240 for the Lynx there.

They charge about $100 more for the
1040STe...

With the way you write, you must be
VERY young- before puberty.

Nope, check out all the IBM users,
most play games and not in puberty.

Do you have an IBM?

If so, you must not play games, and
you are one of the few.

But if you don't presently have one
then shut the heck up.

What IBM progs. you got? Word Perfect
5.1, Lotus 1,2,3; Aldus PageMaker?
You are same as me when actual use of
computer comes. I use clone for
serious stuff. I use ST for games and
MIDI. I have word proc.,data base,
spreadsheet for Atari. But I use the
clone because it is reliable. I don't
know about ST in general, but I don't
trust my ST data wise. It eats data
(I back up everything and have to
restore regularly.) You have a hard
drive for your ST? Is it reliable?

Probe, PC globe, Bannermania, Print
Shop(older version) and lots
mure..yep..lots mure....I be building
up my programs while I awaits the big

     You judge programs by file
size?!? That's pretty misleading!
When your dealing with Mess-Dos,
you're going to get huge files
because the program has to contain
routines that _should_ be contained
in the operating system, as they are
on the Atari.

     Another example, the Atari 8-bit
cartridge of the Joust game is a 16K
cart. The IBM disk version is 57K
and is slower, has fewer colors and
flickers. Judge by file size? No
way!

What I am trying to explain sir is
dis: Most of my IBM
programs(graphic,paint etc..) have
print drivers fer everything, like
ink-jet..etc. They also come with a
screen that has numerous otions dat I
have ta look fer with the ST.
Example:
Just click if you want to use a
scanner, VGA/other, animation,
mouse/other, Ink-jet etc.,in fact,
have all graphics EGA,VGA, etc..just
by clickin....yep..even tells you
what typr pic it is, how large it is
and switches to da proper graphic
mode to view. Yep....
